The Challenge
HSMO was preparing to replicate a campaign they had recently concluded, building out some retail space to replace its original and outdated facility in Westport. The build-out was economical and it would provide adoption services for a growing population.
But, it was learned that a donor was interested in helping them to secure land for a brand-new facility. This development resulted in a new, prime location that opened up a world of possibilities…and expanded the budget. This was not going to be a campaign to provide better space for adoption services. Rather, the reinvigorated vision was to create a state-of-the-art facility for animal welfare and adoption services.
The Impact
The campaign raised more than $16 Million to build the new flagship facility in Westport. Now fully operational, the first-of-its-kind veterinary medicine and best buddy adoption center, located at the intersection of Page Avenue and Schuetz Road, significantly expands the Humane Society of Missouri’s ability to provide second chances for the thousands of abused, neglected and abandoned animals in the St. Louis area and provide first-class veterinary care to the public.
