Who We Are

Kevin Kast

Kevin Kast FundraisingKevin is a board certified health care leader, and has achieved Fellow status with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). With over twenty-five years of experience, Kevin has served as CEO of several small rural and specialty hospitals, as well as large hospitals in the Midwest, and has successfully lead numerous capital campaigns in the health care field in addition to various other charitable organizations.

Most recently he was President/CEO of award winning St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, Illinois (2006-2014), while simultaneously acting as Central Region Division President for Hospital Sisters Health System – accountable for three hospitals with 628 beds, 2400 employees and 224 active physicians (2008-2013).

Previously, Kevin served as President/CEO and Market Executive for the SSM Health Care System in St. Charles, Missouri (1998-2005). In this capacity he was accountable for three hospitals (St. Joseph Health Center as flagship), two outpatient surgical facilities, a forty-member multi-specialty medical group, and a Foundation. These hospitals and ancillary services combined equaled over 500 beds, over 2,000 employees and 270 active physicians.

Kevin also developed one of the largest assisted living facilities in the St. Louis area (86 beds, 66 units). He currently serves as Managing Member of New Covenant Health Care, LLC, the sole owner of Assisted Living at the Meadowlands, in O’Fallon, Missouri. This community opened in 2009, and consistently has an outstanding regional reputation for quality and compassion.

Kevin has an MPA in Health Services Administration, an MA in Communication Studies, and a BA in Sociology – all degrees conferred at University of Missouri, Kansas City. He has also been a guest lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis and has served on the faculties of Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri, Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri, and Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri.

Over the course of his career, Kevin has served in numerous civic and philanthropic roles, including Chairperson of the Board for the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce, President of the American Cancer Society (St. Charles, MO), the American Heart Association, Missouri Hospital Association Board of Directors, and the Juvenile Diabetes Association among others. Kevin has received many awards for his work, including the Visionary Award for the Missouri Hospital Association, Person of the Year for the St. Peters Chamber of Commerce, the Archbishop May Award for Distinguished Healthcare Leadership, and he was also appointed Knight of the Equestrian Order by Pope John Paul II.

Kevin is married to his high school sweetheart, Jan, and they have four adult children in the St. Louis area.
