What We Do

Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning Fundraising Consulting ServicesStrategic Planning is fundamental to the success of any long-term fundraising program and to the overall advancement of an organization. At Holmes, Radford & Avalon, Inc. (HRA) our Strategic Planning services help nonprofit organizations define their visions and articulate their goals.

HRA utilizes an approach to planning that we call Courageous Strategic Planning. We believe the Strategic Planning process should be challenging, bold and transformational. Such an approach will provide a mechanism for strengthening your organization in directions that are determined by the Strategic Planning Team and the Board of Directors - not by forces over which you have little control. This exercise of Strategic Planning should be both a refreshing and exciting experience shared by Board Members and staff. It should encourage enthusiastic participation from the members of the Board of Directors and participating staff, while giving everyone a chance to take part in ways they feel comfortable.Strategic Planning

The resulting written Strategic Plan will articulate your reaffirmed mission and vision, followed by a clear delineation of the Critical Impact Areas (Strategic Initiatives) necessary for success. To give life to the document, HRA will concisely identify concrete Goals, Priorities, Action Steps and Lead Agents to achieve your desired results. The Strategic Plan is designed to be used as a guide to establish annual operating plans as well as setting new horizons for the future. It should be revisited regularly to ensure measurable results and smooth implementation. The process will be energizing, the data collection will be comprehensive, and the written plan will clearly guide strategic activity for several years.

As John Schaar of the University of California observed, “The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created, first in mind, next in will, then in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but a place we are creating. The paths are not to be discovered, but made, and the activity of making the future changes both the maker and the destination.”

Through the Courageous Strategic Planning process create your future and make your Vision become a reality.
